Fort Worth Classical Pilates, LLC is proud to offer a Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program. FWCP Pilates Teacher Training Program is a 600+ hour endeavor and provides a collective understanding of the traditional Pilates method. We strive for excellence in our teaching, in our practice, in our clients, and now in our apprentices. The Program is not to be entered into lightly, and requires serious consideration and commitment by all involved.
OVERVIEW:
󠇆 - 600+ Hours
󠇆 - Five 3-day Weekend Seminars
󠇆- Prerequisite - Independent Intermediate Reformer Work
󠇆 - Assessments Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced Levels
󠇆- Bridge Program Available
Five workshops will be scheduled throughout the course of one year:
Pre-Pilates/Beginner, Beginner/Intermediate, Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, Advanced.
Each workshop will be planned over a 3-day weekend Friday – Sunday with 20 hours each weekend. Attendance of each Workshop is required. If you miss a workshop, you may have to defer to the following year when it is offered again. Please call 917-912-0455 or email laura@fortworthclassicalpilates.com to find out our current Workshop Weekend dates.
FWCP Pilates Teacher Training Program requires 500 logged Apprentice Hours during the course of the training period. Each level requires a minimum amount of 100 Apprentice Hours.
Pre-Pilates/Beginner – 100 hours
Beginner/Intermediate – 100 hours
Intermediate – 100 hours
Intermediate/Advanced – 100 hours
Advanced – 100 hours
Apprentice Hours consist of 100 Hours at each Level:
󠇆 30 Observation: Time spent watching a client session led by an already trained instructor.
These sessions will be on Pilatesology (See Fees & Payments)
󠇆 30 Self-Practice: Time spent practicing the method in your own body, or as a client in a
Class, Private, or Shared Session with Laura West Strawser or another
approved instructor.
󠇆 30 Practice Teaching: Time spent teaching another individual. This may be a fellow
apprentice in the program with you or a practice body friend.
󠇆 10 Additional of any of the above
Assessments will be required at each of the following levels. For each assessment level, an apprentice will schedule:
󠇆 ONE GUIDED PRACTICE TEACHINGS -1½ hour each level
󠇆 ONE EVALUATION – each listed
Beginner:
· 1 Teaching Hour
· Untimed Written Assessment
Intermediate:
· 1 Teaching Hour
· 1 Physical Practice Hour
· Untimed Written Assessment
Advanced:
· 1 Teaching Hour
· 1 Physical Practice Hour
· Untimed Written Assessment
The Guided Practice Teachings offer the apprentice the opportunity for feedback and adjustments prior to the final evaluation and are critically necessary for understanding the overall structure, goals, and flow of the traditional Pilates system.
Passing an Evaluation at each training level with a percentage of 85 or higher ensures the understanding of the work and the quality of the teaching as necessary for the integrity of the collective system. If an Evaluation is not passed with an 85 or higher, supplementary Apprentice Hours may be added and a retest of the Evaluation rescheduled (see Fees & Payments schedule). Only one retest of each level is permitted per apprentice.
Practice Teaching Hours refers to time an apprentice teaches another individual. This practice takes many different forms. The material taught must match and not deviate from the material given at the appropriate level of training on which the apprentice is currently working.
󠇆Practice Teaching: Other Apprentices - Apprentices can take turns teaching, spotting, and cueing each other through given material and exercises.
Practice Teaching: Practice Body Friend – Apprentices can bring in friends on whom to practice their given material. This allows apprentices to work with a normal or average client level, as someone who may just be starting out. This experience of teaching a new client is much different than teaching a proficient client going through training with you. You see many more needs and challenges in a working body. These sessions are free of charge to the Practice Body Friend.
󠇆
Practice Teaching: Practice Body Client – Apprentices may be asked to work with clients of Fort Worth Classical Pilates, LLC as they move through their practice. The client will in fact be paying for the session, but at a reduced rate from a fully-trained instructor. This provides a wonderful opportunity for clients who may not be able to pay for a regular private session at a full studio rate, but who love and are interested in the work. (Apprentices must be asked by Program Director or Lead Instructor or ask permission to schedule a Practice Body Client Session.)
Apprentices may take privates and/or shared sessions throughout the training program which count towards their total Apprenticeship Hours. These sessions are not included as part the Comprehensive Training package.
Pilatesology.com is an online Pilates resource filled with history, interviews, workshops, classes, and seminars. It is an invaluable tool for distance learning and practicing while away from the studio. (See Fees & Payment Schedule).
FWCP: Pilates Teacher Training will issue one Certificate of Completion at the passing of the Advanced Evaluation. This Certificate will indicate one’s ability to work in all settings such as but not limited to studio, gym, community center, or independently.
